Dihedral off the bench — run = projected semispan (tip measured horizontally), rise = tip block height. Angle by tan.
Dihedral along the panel — length = true panel span (measured along the skin), rise = tip height. Angle by sin. On a 5° panel the two differ by ~0.4 %; on 25° by 10 %.
Control throw — length = hinge line to the point you measure at (usually the surface chord), rise = measured throw. The TE swings on an arc, so this is sin, not tan.
